Spring Sweep to prepare for Downtown Stroll
Downtown merchants are recruiting volunteers to help clean up the neighborhood Saturday morning.
Keep Greenville Beautiful is sponsoring the “Spring Sweep” event, between 8:30 a.m. and noon Saturday. The clean-up is in preparation for the Downtown Stroll: In Full Bloom on April 1.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the Keep Greenville Beautiful office inside the Uptown Forum and to bring brooms, dustpans and weedeaters, although trash bags will be provided. Participants will be cleaning, picking up trash, sweeping, weeding and just sprucing up the downtown area. The Texan Theater is providing coffee and the Greenville Board of Development is offering a pizza lunch for the volunteers.
As was the case with the first Downtown Stroll in April 2016, and with the Downtown Stroll Holiday Edition in November, almost three dozen businesses and organizations will be staying open later than usual, between 5 and 9 p.m. April 1, with multiple activities, food and drink specials, demonstrations, tours, giveaways, entertainment, snacks and/or special sales planned as part of the event.
Downtown merchants are expected to be featuring spring and summer fashions, gift ideas, lawn and gardening tools and equipment and more, while several of the restaurants will be serving meals on their on outdoor patios.
